My interview was from the Radiologist Department at Yavapai Community Hospital

1) Tell me about your background and how you got into this field?

Tech: I was an engineer for 15 years and when the and economy crashed I was laded off,
there were more people looking for jobs than jobs that were available. So I decided to
go back to school, and start a new career, I chose Radiology.

2) How much job security is there for people in your field?

Tech: Well after I graduated I went right to work at Yavapai Community Hospital. I actually
had three other offers even before I graduated, so I would say it’s pretty secure.

3) Are there many opportunities?

Tech: Absolutely I am a Diagnostic Radiologist but you can also certify in CT or MRI then
there is Surgical and Trauma. So there is many opportunities.

4) What are the biggest challenges in your job?
Tech: I would have to say working with the different departments and keeping everything
moving smoothly and in a timely manner so everybody is happy and not letting things
get backed up.

5) How do you think the Healthcare reform is going to affect your job?

Tech: Well I hate to say it but it could cause our wages to go down.

6) The fact that when I am done with school and start looking for a job I will be 50 years old
what are my odds of finding a job?

Tech: Well I was 51 when I graduated and it didn’t seem to affect me so I don’t think it is
going to be a problem for you. You have work experience that counts for a lot.

Likes: I enjoy working around a lot of people so for me that makes it fun. I have made a lot of
friends working here.

Dislikes: I really don’t like drunks they make my job very difficult.
